Balloon used for wiring the 500KV transmission line

This is the newly applied technique in Vietnam to arrange a conductor over the difficult and mountainous topographies or big rivers.

Having imported from China, this balloon was operated by a PCC1’s technician. The wiring of 500kV transmission line section of 7km from Xuan Loc to Ham Tan District took only one day, 4 or 5 times faster than the manual method. Accordingly, the balloon pulled the pilot wire connected to the power conductor and then laid on the electric poles. Finally,  a traditinal tensioning machine was used to stretch out the cables.

This technique does not only arrange the conductors quickly but also eleminate the scratch of the conductors, cutting down the trees or site clearance beneth the line.

The 500 kV Vinh Tan – Song May transmission line project with total length of 273 km which runs across the terrritories of Binh Thuan and Dong Nai provinces, starts from Vinh Tan Power Complex to 500kV Song May kVSubstation in Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province. This key project with total investment level of 3,000 billion VND was implemented with special framework by Prime Minister. This project is expected to be completed by October 2013 and to transmit electric power  from Vinh Tan Thermal Power Plant to the National Power Network.

It’s great honor for PECC2 to provide consulting services for the stages of 500kV Vinh Tan - Song May transmission line project including: Investment Project, Technical Designs - Bidding Documents, and Construction Drawing - Design Suppervision.
