Three contracts were signed on September 25 in Vi Thanh City (Hau Giang Province) in preparation for the construction of the Hau Giang rice husk – fired thermal power plant, the first of the twenty rice husk-fired power plants in Vietnam.

At 9:00 A.M. in the morning of September 25 2013, the signing ceremony of the three contracts was held at the meeting hall of Hau Giang’s Province People’s Committee between the Owner and partners in preparation for the construction of the Hau Giang rice husk–fired thermal power plant, expected to commence at the end of 2013 and on occasion of the ten-year ceremony of founding Hau Giang Province. The contracts include the EPC contract, the Joint Venture contract between Hau Giang Power Plant (HGPP) and C.H.E. (Malaysia) and the Contract of Consulting Service and Construction Supervision between HGPP and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2).

Attendees at the signing ceremony are Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhon – Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Mr  Pham Trong Thuc – Head of Department of Renewable Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), and leaders of other departments coming from Hau Giang, An Giang, Kien Giang, Dong Thap and Can Tho city. At the same time, there is the presence of Embassy’s representatives of Malaysia in Vietnam, Consul General of the United Kingdom in Ho Chi Minh city, leaders of HGPP, C.H.E Malaysia Company and PECC2.

The Project, which is invested by HGPP, is part of the plan to build 20 rice husk thermal power plants across the country including five in Hau Giang, An Giang, Dong Thap, Kien Giang and Can Tho city in the Mekong Delta, with a total capacity of 200MW and the capital of about 600 million USD funded by Eximbank Bank of Malaysia and the Vietnam Development Bank (VDB). The first 31 million USD Project, covering an area of 9 hectars in the provincial town of Long My (Hau Giang Province) will be operational in two years.
