The expanded Thac Mo Hydropower Station has synchronized with the National Power Grid

The Extension Project of Thac Mo Hydropower Station invested by EVN with one unit of 75MW capacity was started on 1st July 2014 in the districts of Bu Gia Map and Phuoc Long, Binh Phuoc Province. The total investment cost of the project is VND 1.558 billion, among that 85% comes from Japanese ODA loan and the remaining came from domestic corresponding fund.

With the close guidance of the owner and the collaborative efforts of consultants and contractors, the project has been completed properly as scheduled since 3 years of commencement date.

The synchronizing of extension station can contribute 52 million kWh of electricity to the national power grid per year as well as increase peak load capacity to support the existing 150MW Thac Mo power station with 75MW of additional power.

In this project, Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2) plays the role of the technical design and design supervision consultant; PECC2 and J- POWER – NIPPON KOEI are the supervisory consultants; Truong Son Construction Corporation and VINAVICO are construction contractors; ALSTOM INDIA (or GE) and sub-contractor – LILAMA 10 are suppliers of electro - mechanical equipment; NARIME and LILAMA 45.4 are suppliers of Hydro – mechanical equipment.

Some milestones of the project have been implemented in accordance with the contract:

-  Commencement date: 5/7/2014

-  Completed date of construction items:

  • Inlet channel, intake door, shoulder dam, pressure tunnel: 20th June 2017
  • Hydropower Plant: 15th June 2017
  • 110kV connection line and interrupter: 4th July2017
  • Main transformer: 5th July 2017
  • Main and synchronous technology equipment: 5th July 2017

-  Idle running date: 28th June, 2017;

-  The 1st synchronizing date: 11th July 2017;

-  Commissioning date: 15th July 2017.
