The Unit 2 of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant has synchronized with the National Power Grid

Happiness of synchronizing unit #2 with the National Power Grid

The Vinh Tan 4 TPP Project is located in Vinh Tan Commune, Tuy Phong District, Binh Thuan Province, invested by EVN with the total investment of over VND 36.700 billion, is one of the government key project included in the Master Plan VII and managed by the Vinh Tan Project Management Board, a unit of The Power Generation Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO 3).

Vinh Tan 4 TPP with total installed capacity of 1,200MW, including two 600MW units, was started on 9 March 2014 and is the first in Vietnam large coal fired TPP with supercritical steam parameters, which is the most widely used technology in the world.

Environmental protection systems such as Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD), Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP), Water Treatment Plant, etc. have been put into operation since the furnace was installed. This will help protect the environment during the test and when the factory goes into operation, there will not have black smoke belching from the chimney.

Overview of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant

The project was implemented by the Consortium of Contractors including Heavy Industry Group Doosan (Korea), Mitsubishi (Japan), Joint-Stock Company of Pacific Group and Power Engineering Consulting Join-Stock Company 2 (PECC2). The Power Engineering Consulting JS Company (PECC 2) in collaboration with foreign auxiliary consulting companies will be the Consultant for the Investor on supervising construction of the project.

As scheduled, the first unit is expected to put into operation after 46 months of construction (at the end of 2017) and 52 months for the second in another six months (at the end of 3rdquarter of 2018).

Once completed and fully operated, Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant is expected to generate  about 7.2 billion kWh per  year for the country’s power network, contribute to strengthening the power supply capacity for socio-economic development in southern area and decreasing the power supply dependence of  electrical system on  hydropower, especially in the dry season and drought years,  as well as the power transmission capacity from the North to the South, which helps decrease electricity loss and increase  the safety, stability and economization  in the operation of the electricity system.
