“Return to the source” journey to Tri An Hydropower Plant and War zone D

The joyful atmosphere during the journey

The call from Tri An

Departing from the head office of PECC2, driving to Bien Hoa, then Vinh Cuu District, to Tri An crossroad, around 60 km, the group are excited with nice quiet lake with blue water. This is Tri An lake, belonging to Tri An Hydropower Plant.

Tri An Hydropower Plant with a capacity of 400MW and annual electricity output of 1.7 billion kWh was built on Dong Nai, 65 km from Ho Chi Minh City to the Northeast, and completed in 1991 after seven years of construction. This is the first power source construction in the South of Vietnam since the reunification day. This is also the construction associated with the foundation of Power Investigation and Design Company 2 (PIDC2 – the former of PECC2)

War zone D

At 11:30 am, the group left Tri An HPP for War zone D. It's very wide primeval forest, stretching across Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai provinces. As a revolutionary base, many historic glorious feats of arms of the two wars against the French and Americans have associated with War zone D, the South-Eastern Regional Committee and the Central office for South Vietnam, one of two most important bases of the South-Eastern region.

Through many hardships, ups and downs, this war base zone has become a brilliant symbol of revolutionary heroism in Vietnam.
Driving on the roundabout red earth road, with 120 dizzy curves, the group arrives in South-Eastern Regional Committee; the inner is the communication trench system with a length of over 600m.

Right after the journey, comrade Nguyen Tran Thuy Hang (a member of PECC2 Youth) shared: 'The war has receded into the past, but the valuable lessons of patriotism and sacrifices for the independence and freedom of the country still resonate forever. This “Return to the source” journey has strongly evoked precious traditions of peoples and contribute to the education of youth union members of PECC2 to live a more useful and meaningful life in peacetime today.
