Operation of solar power system at tower of Vietnam Electricity (EVN)

The photovoltaic panels with total area of 130m2 installed on the roof of EVN Tower

The solar power system was installed at EVN Tower (No 11, Cua Bac Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi City) with the investment of VND500 million.

According to Mr. Dao Minh Hien, Deputy Director of PECC2's Thermal & Nuclear Power Engineering Center, 'After completing the installation of this solar energy system on September 16th, EVNPECC2 has carried out commissioning and 475 kWh have been produced. We believe that by applying the polycrystalline battery technology with 16% minimum efficiency, the system will operate effectively, contributing to the reduction of energy bills and exampling the rooftop solar power models in Vietnam.

PECC2 engineers are giving guidelines of the system operation

The panels are connected to the building's electrical system via an inverter and monitored through the SSOC system. This system allows remote monitoring and operation, so the operation management is fairly simple and convenient. In addition, all the equipment and devices which were designed and invested by EVNPECC2 for the operation are fully automatic. It is expected that the power output will reach over 15,000 kWh/year, saving more than VND 30 million per year.

Mr. Le Van Tung - Deputy Manager of EVN Office, the division in charge of the solar power system operation and management, expressed that this project of 19.84 kWp capacity is practically contributing to generating clean energy for the EVN Tower. EVN will operate and maintain the system in accordance with the guidelines from EVNPECC2 for the most efficient operation.
