U.S. Trade & Development Agency (USTDA) signed Grant Agreement with EVNPECC2 for Feasibility Study of Tan Thuan Nearshore Wind Project

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mrs. Mary Tarnowka, U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. David Ross, USTDA Country Manager for Southeast Asia, Mr. Nguyen Van Do, Director of Ca Mau Department of Industry & Trade, Mr. Mai Huu Chinh, Director of Ca Mau Department of Planning & Investment, and EVNPECC2 leaders.

Tan Thuan Wind Power Project in Tan Thuan Commune, Dam Doi District, Ca Mau Province has the designed capacity of 100MW, the first phase of which is planned of 24MW. Currently, the wind measuring station in Tan Thuan Commune was completed by EVNPECC2 and the wind measurement is being carried out in accordance with regulations.

According to Mr. David Ross, the USTDA have supported more than 20 energy projects in Viet Nam over the past 20 years in technical, legal and financial aspects to develop new and modernize energy infrastructure, connecting the investors, developers with leading U.S. technology providers as well as attracting finance for the projects. In the Tan Thuan Wind Power Project, DNV KEMA Renewables - a leading U.S. Consulting & Engineering Firm in renewable energy, will conduct the Feasibility Study.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Chon Hung, Chairman & CEO of EVNPECC2 expressed the heartfelt thanks to the U.S. Consulate General in HCMC, USTDA and Ca Mau Province Authorities for supporting the Project implementation. EVNPECC2 also undertake to dedicate the available resources to put the Project into operation as scheduled in 2021.

Cheering for a fruitful cooperation between EVNPECC2 and USTDA

Giving congratulations on the successful signing, Mrs. Mary Tarnowka – U.S. Consul General, emphasized that Ca Mau Province is rich in wind resources, and the Tan Thuan Wind Power Project of this clean energy is well suitable with the sustainable development policy, contributing to Vietnam economic development and for the prosperity of both countries of Vietnam and the United States.

Also at the Signing Ceremony, the department representatives of Ca Mau Province pledged to support and facilitate the favorable conditions for the successful implementation of the project, contributing to the clean energy promotion, environmental protection and the socio-economic development in Ca Mau Province as well as in Vietnam.
